Sender and reply-to settings in SMTP configuration
In this guide we explain how to correctly fill in the “Sender name” and “Reply-to email” fields when activating SMTP in Fynode. Settings are entered in the panel opened by the “Activate SMTP” button in the Emails section. After saving the connection is tested and the system displays the test result, success or the error returned by the SMTP server.
Where to find these fields
The SMTP activation panel is opened in the Emails section via the “Activate SMTP” button. The form contains fields “SMTP host”, “Email”, “Password”, “Connection security” (TLS or SSL), “Port”, “Sender name” and “Reply-to email”. After clicking “Save”, the credentials are tested and a success or error message from the SMTP server is displayed.
How to set the "Email to which replies are sent (reply to)"
In the reply‑to field enter the email address where you want sender replies from customers to be directed. It can be the same email you use for SMTP authentication, or a separate address for customer support. If you want another team to handle replies, enter that team email so messages are not lost in a personal mailbox.
What to enter in “Sender name”
In "Sender name" enter the name of the eshop that should be shown to the recipient in the From field. Use a clear and trustworthy name, for example your brand name, so customers can easily recognize the sender. This name is displayed together with your email when the message is sent and improves deliverability and open rate.
Verification and common issues
After saving the settings the system will run a connection test and display the result. If an error appears, check the correctness of the SMTP host, the login email and password, the selected security (TLS or SSL) and the port. Also verify that outgoing connections are not blocked by a firewall or hosting provider. After correcting the data click “Save” again and retest the connection.
Can the sender name be different from the login email?
Yes. In the "Sender name" field enter any name (for example the name of the eshop) that will be shown to the recipient. This name can be different from the email used for SMTP authentication. A properly chosen name increases the credibility of sent messages.
What if I want replies to go to a different address than FROM?
In the "Email to which replies are sent (reply to)" field set the address where replies should be directed. This is useful if you use automated FROM addresses and want support to handle replies at a different email. The system supports this field directly in the SMTP configuration.
How do I find out that SMTP is set up correctly?
After filling in all fields click “Save”. The system will automatically test the connection and display a success message if successful. If the test fails, an error message returned by the SMTP server will be displayed with information on what to correct, and you can then edit the data and repeat the test.
