Management of pickup points and their display in the order
Overview of managing pickup points in Fynode including embedding the map into the eshop, display settings and how the selected pickup point appears in the order detail. This article explains the steps from creating a map, through inserting the JS code or Shopify plugin, to displaying and editing the pickup point in the orders administration.
Creating and embedding the map
You create the pickup points map in the Fynode administration and after saving you get JS code that you insert into the eshop. The code verifies the domain and after selecting the delivery method in the checkout it will open the map for the customer. For Shopify, instead of direct JS code, a plugin installation and a unique token that you assign in the plugin settings are used. More information about the map form and the generated JS code can be found in the Fynode documentation and about the behavior when embedding the map in the eshop.
Display and management in the order form
When a customer selects a pickup point, the JS code writes the address and identifier into the delivery address data of the order. The chosen pickup point is then loaded in the orders administration and displayed in the shipment breakdown before dispatch. In the order detail there is a Change to pickup point or Change to address button and a field for searching pickup points if the order is set to a pickup point. These functions are described in the orders section and in the Fynode map documentation.
Main map settings
When creating a map you set the country, domain and the delivery type name that will activate the map in checkout. You can allow displaying only pickup points with cash on delivery or card payment and define the number of minutes during which a customer can change the pickup point after creating the order. You can also change default coordinates and zoom level for mobile and desktop. The map merging option allows combining pickup points from multiple maps under one header if you want to show multiple countries or couriers on one map.
How do I insert the pickup points map into my eshop?
After creating a map in Fynode, a JS code is generated which you insert into your site. The code is bound to the specified domain so the map is not loaded from other domains. For Shopify proceed via plugin installation and entering the unique token in the plugin settings within the Shopify app.
Can the customer change the selected pickup point after placing the order?
Yes — if the map settings include a number of minutes allowed to change the pickup location, the customer can change the location within that time via the public Track & Trace order page. You configure this feature directly in the map settings in the Fynode administration.
How is the selected pickup point displayed in the order administration?
After the order is accepted, the system will load information about the selected pickup location and display it in the shipment breakdown before sending. In the order detail, an input with search and the option to change the pickup location or switch back to delivery to the address will appear as needed.
